iPilates

Well, maybe not the whole world, but certainly much of this country, parts of Canada , Europe, and Pan-Asia are experiencing the explosion in demand for Pilates, exercises and movements designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the whole body. Significant is the systematic practice of specific exercises (who hasn't heard of the "one hundred", "swimming" or "swan") coupled with focused breathing patterns and focus on the core muscles (so called "powerhouse").

And Pilates based training yields many benefits. Increased lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing is a primary focus. Strength and flexibility, particularly of the abdomen and back muscles, coordination -both muscular and mental - are key components in an effective Pilates program. Posture, balance, and core strength are all heartily increased. Bone density and joint health improve, and many experience positive body awareness for the first time. Pilates teaches balance and control of the body, and that capacity spills over into other areas of one's life.

Reason enough to get prepared! As you know, a good instructor will make all the difference between a good Pilates experience and a bad one!

We will teach you the "mat work" basics as well as the knowledge of today's world, with it's scientific research on biomechnics and it's understanding of kinesiology. We'll introduce the advanced movements and give you options how to use various equipment in your class.

Currently we offer the following Pilates / Pilates based programs:

iPilates: Mat I (Qualification):

This foundational course is an extensive introduction to the comprehensive work of Joseph Pilates. The iPilates method is taught from a functional therapeutic standpoint which begins with the basic Pilates exercises then shows how they affect the body with regards to stabilization. The participant will learn how to: analyze their client using body landmarks to help visually identify weaknesses; correct alignment issues where possible; incorporate progressions, regressions and modifications to each exercise; and use cueing strategies for successful Pilates teaching. This intensive qualification is a must for the novice yet adds variety to the veterans' knowledge base!

Reformer Progressions:

This program covers the use of, and progressions for, the reformer for small group and personal training. You will review the reformer and learn how to get people comfortable with this unique machine. The workshop will cover the beginner abdominal and leg series - with progressions - and include bridges, jump board use and lunges. All movements will be experienced giving the participant the opportunity to see, feel and learn how and what modifications and challenges can be added.
